Module 2 – Africa: Origins of Humanity
In this module, we will discuss the various ways the continent of Africa functions as the origin of human life on earth. We will deconstruct the false images and narratives that suggest the original upright man came from locales outside of the mother continent. We will also discuss how false images provide a subconscious view of white superiority in the minds of Black people. The instructor will discuss the scientific and religious origins of Africa as the birthplace of modern man. In addition, we mention the out migration theory, which suggests that the movement of humans across the earth originated in Africa. Lastly, we remind viewers that Blackness can be traced back to before antiquity and people of African descent are the first people in the world.

Module 3 – Africa: Cradle of Civilization
In this module, we will uncover the ways Africa is not only the place where the modern man originated, but also where civilization first started. In our education system, we are taught that democracy started and modern philosophical thought started in Europe. We dismantle these posits by presenting facts from African- Centered and mainstream scholarship showing that Greek philosophy and democratic government practices started in Africa. In addition, we discuss Imhotep as the world's first multi genius in medicine, engineering and poetry. Showing how Africa is not only the birthplace of humanity, but also a civilized place that initiated culture, education and thought is important for viewers to know so that they have a true understanding of the modern world.

Module 4 – MAAFA: African Holocaust
In this module, we will discuss slavery, some of its origins and the effects it had on Black folks in the United States. Slavery is a common topic when discussing African American history. But in this series, we dismantle myths that are used to perpetuate victim blaming for Black people in slavery. We discuss the truths about the capture of African people, race as a social construct and the horrors of slavery. While we talk about the sin of slavery, we also show how Black people resisted and rebelled from the time they were forced on the slave ship until the Civil War. We discuss some of the major slave rebellions as well as the empowered Black institutions that came out of this horrific system.

Module 5 – The White Man’s Religion
In this module, we discuss the ways the Abrahamic religions have been colonized and perverted to support and center white people and whiteness. We uncover and deconstruct the myths that centers whiteness in Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Instead, we reconstruct an historical view that shows how African people have been involved with the beginning and constructing of Christianity on a global scale. We talk about how enslavers used Christianity as a form of oppression, but also how Black people used it as a means of empowerment and liberatory force for abolition. We discuss how Islam and Judaism has also been used as a means to empower the Black community and create institutions that can lead to Black sovereignty.

Module 6 – The Social Construction of Race
In this module, we will discuss the myth that race is a biological construct. While biology is used to categorize people along racial lines, the notion of a racial identity is based on ideas that people create based on laws, behaviors, opinions and capital. Race and racism is more than ideas that are the result of behaviors, but racism is embedded in the systems that govern our way of life. We will discuss the laws and science that provide theories around race and justify the subjugation of Black people. Even though society has created constructions related to race that puts Black people in a negative light, Black people have created movements to reconstruct a new Black identity and redefine what our race means to us.

Module 7 – Hip Hop Music, Culture, and Revolution
In this module, we discuss the myths and mainstream construction of hip hop music. We mention the ways people believe hip hop has been harmful to the Black community. We combat these ideas by continuing our discussion of the Black power era and showing how this music and culture is an extension of this movement. While early hip hop was never elementary or meant for sensitive ears, the fun, excitement and social messages were key elements of the genre. Overtime, radio and TV owners and executives as well as entertainment conglomerates played a huge role in perpetuating violence, disrespect of women, and materialism. While this is a part of the music, hip hop at its essence has always sought to tell the truth about the victories and ill of Black life. This module places the genre in an historical context and showcases the education and empowerment that still exists in this beautiful art form.

Module 8 – Afrofuturism
In this module, we discuss the concept of Afrofuturism. While Black history and culture explore the ways people of African descent have historically and currently influenced society, it is necessary for Black people to envision a future where we exist. Afrofuturism has been around for over a hundred years. For over a century scholars have reimagined a future where we exist, thrive and can build a world devoid of white domination. We talk about these examples from literature, music, and art. Afrofuturism is necessary for any decolonization process because we are living in our ancestors' Afrofuturistic thought and if we do not continue to think of ourselves beyond the present, opposing forces will do what they can to ensure that we have no place in the future.
